The Suede Trucker Cap, in detail
The first piece from Voyage la Lumière is a six-panel trucker cap in brushed suede. It comes in two colours, and nothing else about it changes between them. This is what it is made of, and how to keep it.
The suede
The front panels are brushed suede, structured so the front stands rather than folds. Suede has a nap: a direction to its surface. Push it one way and the colour lightens; push it back and it darkens. That is why the cap never looks quite the same twice, and why it rewards a little attention.
Two colours, one piece
Le Vert-de-Grèce is named for the green that copper earns by standing in the weather. Deep green suede, with open black mesh at the back. The house name is raised in gold, with the script line laid flat in red beneath it.
Le Rouge-de-Cuivre is a deep burgundy, suede across the crown. The name is black and the script gold.
The shape, the size and the embroidery are the same. Both are A$88.
Stitched, never printed
Nothing on the cap is printed. The house name is raised in puff embroidery; the script beneath it is stitched flat. Under one light, only one of them is ever fully lit.
The details inside
The cap is lined in satin, with the house name taped along every seam. The curved brim is finished with six rows of top-stitching. On the brim, a woven tab carries a line almost nobody will read: Le voyage ne se termine jamais. The journey never ends.
Fit
One size, with an adjustable rear closure, so it covers almost every head in either colour. All sales are final, so if you are unsure about anything, write to us before you order.
How to care for a suede cap
- Keep it dry. Suede remembers water. Keep it out of the rain.
- Brush it gently, with the nap, when it needs it. That is all the upkeep it asks for.
- Never machine wash it.
Looked after this way, brushed suede wears in rather than out.
